Legendary Actor Apathy
I’m watching Goodfellas and Heat tonight and a friend of mine brought up the fact that Robert De Niro has seemingly not given a shit for many years now. I have to agree. I’m not necessarily judging– personally, I’d cash those monstrous checks he’s getting for crap like Righteous Kill or Little Fockers without a second thought if I were in his position. Nevertheless, I had to pause and think about the last film De Niro made that I really enjoyed. I landed on 15 Minutes, a film from 2001 that I feel is quite underrated (Leonard Maltin apparently agrees in his book). Ten years ago. TEN! He took a crack at giving an interesting performance last year in Stone, but the movie was underwhelming at best.

I recently attended a screening of the latest Steve McQueen/Michael Fassbender collaboration Shame at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Critic and admirer of the film Elvis Mitchell was on hand to present the picture, as The New York Times Film Club was one of the sponsors of the event. I have been extremely excited to see Shame since I heard Fassbender and McQueen were working together again. Their first project together, Hunger, is one of the most impressive movies I’ve seen in five years, and, luckily, Shame followed suit. Read more…
Phew!
These progress posts have been few and far between, I know, but Devin and I have some content edited and ready to upload. The next step… where do we upload it? We’re working on finding where to post our files for any and all to listen to, so don’t lose hope! The wheels are spinnin’.
In the meantime, this blog won’t be just a place to listen to our pod, but a location for Devin and myself to post various pictures, articles, interviews, QAs, etc. that we hope you all will find interesting. If you’re a film or tech buff, this should be a fun website for you to go to.
